What are your career goals?

My career goals are to become a broad-spectrum family medicine physician who is focused on increasing access to quality healthcare for all people. I want to be grounded in research-backed and guideline-oriented practice, while also pushing forward the movement of equitable healthcare. I want my patients to feel seen, heard, and supported.

What attracted you to the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program?

I was attracted to the energy of the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program. With each interaction I had (and continue to have), I was/am invigorated by the brilliance and kindness of all of the staff, attendings, and fellow residents. Every person is obviously dedicated to the improvement of the patients at Duke and also the Durham community. I know that completing my training here will allow me to accomplish all of my career goals. The program also embodies their holistic approach with patients with the residents too, treating us as humans and supporting our needs.

In your opinion, what makes Duke Family Medicine special?

Duke Family Medicine is special because it both sees and works to address the tight link between health and community. We work to get our patients the right medicine, the right specialists, the right treatments, while also connecting them with resources for food, housing, transportation, and more. As so many of our illness of synergistically connected to our environments, this allows Duke Family Medicine to truly care for our patients.

What strengths or skills do you have that could be of benefit to the community?

I believe I bring enthusiasm and curiosity to the community. I am excited to continue to learn about Durham, Duke, and all of the wonderful people who create the fabric of this community. I will work hard to do my best for my fellow humans.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about understanding and addressing how our lives and identities interact with our health outcomes. I love working with Spanish-speaking patients, reproductive justice, and empowering patients to being their own best advocates.

What is your hometown?

York, PA

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I love to move my body through hiking, running, yoga, lifting weights, and playing sports (and any other fun ways, especially outside!). Trying out new plant-based recipes in the kitchen, both sweet and savory, is another thing I love to do when I'm not working. I also am always happiest when I am connecting with loved ones, made even better when we are going on new adventures.

If you have lived in the area for awhile, what is the best part of living in Durham/the Triangle?

I am returning to the Triangle area after being gone for 10 years. It has been very fun to start getting to know Durham, as it is such a vibrant and diverse place. I love all of the greenery and trails along with the fun cultural events and delicious food.

What is something interesting that not many people know about you?

I played basketball, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse for many years. I still love to play in pick-up games whenever possible!

So far, what has surprised you most about Duke?

It has been such a pleasure working with all of the kind, intelligent, and thoughtful people who make up the Duke community.
