Yu Hatano, M.D., MPH, is a visiting scholar in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. He received his M.D. from Jichi Medical University, in Tochigi, Japan in 2009, and graduated with an MPH from University of California, Berkeley, in 2019.

Any other educational or research background information you want to share?
I used to work as a general practitioner in rural areas in Hiroshima, Japan.
Why did you choose to come to Duke?
I wanted to research with Dr. Yuichiro Yano and at a prestigious research institution.
What research will you be working on while at Duke?
My interest is diabetes mellitus, so I am researching it using CARDIA data.
What are your research interests?
Diabetes mellitus, Primary aldosteronism, endocrinological diseases and Community-based Integrated Care System.
Are there any major research grants you have been a part of or are currently working on?
Fulbright grant in order for me to study as an MPH candidate.
