COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

The Duke Physician Assistant Program recognizes the quickly changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. The following guidelines are up to date as of September 4, 2020.

The Duke Physician Assistant Program is adhering to guidelines put forth by Duke University School of Medicine, Duke University, and specific Duke buildings as well as applicable local, state, and federal guidelines. 

Students returned to campus on August 10th. All students received COVID-19 tests before their return and will be undergoing periodic surveillance testing.  

Instruction will be a hybrid online/in-person model with minimum on-campus activities. 

Students are expected to remain in Durham for on-campus activities until Thanksgiving break. 

Duke PA program staff and faculty will continue to work remotely whenever possible. 

All Duke University employees and students are expected to sign and abide by the Duke Compact.

Entering the Duke PA program building at 800 S Duke St:

Everyone must enter the building via the main entrance and have on a mask upon entry. 

Prior to entering the building everyone must complete the symptom monitoring survey via the RedCap or SymMon apps.

Please do not enter the building if you are experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus.

Upon entry, you will be required to sanitize your hands, confirm your completion of the symptom monitoring survey, and be checked off by front desk staff.

Everyone is required to wear masks in the building at all times. The only time masks may be removed within the building is when faculty or staff are alone in their own office.

Please maintain physical distance of at least 6 feet when possible.

Hand sanitizer stations are distributed throughout the building for ongoing use. 

If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 and have been in the Duke PA program building within the last 14 days please contact the Student Health hotline or Employee Health hotline.


Interviews (October – January)
The Duke Physician Assistant Program’s admissions interviews for the 2020-2021 cycle will be held entirely virtually.
