Learning Objectives

  • Understand the quantitative relationship between blood pressure, cholesterol and age in determining risk of heart
    attacks and stroke.
  • Describe how important reversible causal risk factors for heart attacks and strokes are poor predictors of these disorders.
  • Discuss the rationale and evidence for the Polypill approach in the prevention of heart attacks and strokes.
