Kevin Sowers, MSN, RN, FAAN, will serve as the keynote speaker at the spring leadership retreat for the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program on April 28 at the J.B. Duke Hotel, speaking to graduating fellows and program leadership. Sowers is the president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Sowers served for eight years as president and CEO of Duke University Hospital. Sowers joined Duke Hospital in 1985 as a staff nurse in oncology and served in the Duke Health System for 32 years. His other numerous senior leadership posts across the Duke University Health System included chief operating officer for Duke University Hospital and interim CEO for Durham Regional Hospital.
Following Sowers’ remarks, the graduating fellows will attend a celebratory luncheon with the new cohort of incoming 2019-2020 nurse fellows.
