Name: Lauren Hart
Position: Research Program Leader
Division/Program in department: Research Unit
Start date: Feb. 19, 2019
Where I worked prior to accepting this role: Before accepting this role, I worked at MEASURE Evaluation at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
What I will be doing in this role: I will be supporting research in the department including managing ongoing studies, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, and supporting pre- and post-award grant activities.
What I most look forward to in this role: I look forward to contributing to relevant and meaningful research that provides important insight and practical application for a wide-range of populations.
My first job: My first job, other than babysitting (at 17) was at a local ice cream store. I mixed ice cream with toppings, tossed that ice cream to a coworker who caught it in a cone, and spent a lot of time sitting in an empty ice cream store on winter evenings.
My dream job: My dream job is anything where I am learning new skills, challenging myself, and contributing in a meaningful way to work that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
What I like to do for fun: I love spending time outdoors — running, hiking, biking, camping, and playing with my kids at the park.
Favorite musician, movie, TV show, or book: I like reading a mix of fiction and nonfiction but have continued to think about Bryan Stevenson’s "Just Mercy" since I read it years ago.
Something my co-workers probably don’t know about me: I worked as a weaver for several years. I don’t have a loom anymore but I still enjoy attempting a number of hobbies including embroidery and quilting.
