As two of 15 family medicine residents selected, Plasencia and Scherr will participate in a year-long program designed to help grow leadership skills.

The Emerging Leader Institute is a multi-part leadership program held in conjunction with the national conference that focuses on three tracks:

  • Policy & Public Health Leadership
  • Personal & Practice Leadership
  • Philanthropic & Mission-Driven Leadership

During the year-long program, each participant completes a project related to the chosen track and designed to build leadership skills. Each participant works with an assigned mentor through the process.
