What are your career goals?

My goals are to have a fulfilling and sustainable career as a family medicine physician that provides outpatient primary care and serve the LGBTQ+ community exceptionally well.

What attracted you to the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program?

Duke stood out to me because of its emphasis on having a safe learning environment. I've found myself looking forward to each new learning opportunity with excitement because of how supported I feel here. Program leaders also work to make sure residents can continue to have a life outside of medicine and take care of ourselves, which is reflected in our schedules. When it came time to make my rank list, the resident socials, second look, and proximity to my support system made it clear that Duke was the program for me!

In your opinion, what makes Duke Family Medicine special?

What makes Duke special is the people. We take care of each other not only so that we can take good care of our patients, but also because we genuinely care for each other.

What strengths or skills do you have that could be of benefit to the community?

I majored in anthropology and applying that lens to medicine has helped me meet patients’ needs better by focusing on people’s stories and lived experiences. 

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about high-quality, evidence-based primary care, especially for the LGBTQ+ community. Some of my other interests include mental health and preventative care.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

My hobbies include arts and crafts, concerts, anime (just finished 1000 episodes of One Piece. I hope to be caught up by the time I finish residency), birdwatching, and baking.

What is something interesting that not many people know about you?

I got a cat one month into intern year!
