What are your career goals?
I aspire to be a physician who provides equitable care and advocacy to patients of all backgrounds in hospital and outpatient settings. I also hope to promote improved quality of life, not just recovery from illness, by using a preventative and lifestyle framework.
What attracted you to the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program?
I was mainly attracted to the Duke Family Medicine Residency program by the collaborative and supportive culture fostered by the faculty and residents. As a Duke Medical student, I was fortunate to witness the program actively improve over the years based on resident feedback, evidence-based guidelines, and the ever-changing social climate.
In your opinion, what makes Duke Family Medicine special?
Duke's Family Medicine Residency program is unique for many reasons. The factors that stood out to me include creating very welcoming and humane learning environments for residents, faculty, medical students, and patients, caring for patients in settings ranging from hospitals to their own homes, and the opportunities for residents to pursue individual career aspirations. The program leaders are also extremely humble and thoughtful when balancing educational opportunities with maintaining work responsibilities.
What strengths or skills do you have that could benefit the community?
I believe I can provide compassionate and holistic care to my patients that address their medical and social concerns. A skill I could bring forth is my ability to engage in crucial, often emotionally charged, conversations with my patients, peers, and mentors.
What are you passionate about?
I have seen firsthand from family, friends, and patients how debilitating a minor or major injury can be to one's lifestyle and mental health. Therefore, I have become particularly passionate about improving people's quality of life by helping them prevent and recover from injuries through my clinical work and research.
