Debra Whiteheart, MHS, PA-C, has worked as a physician assistant at Duke Family Medicine Center since 2009. She received her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry at UNC-Chapel Hill. Before graduating from the Duke Physician Assistant Program in 2008, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, where she taught biology and chemistry. In October 2019, she assumed the role of assistant medical director at Duke Family Medicine Center. In addition to providing routine acute and chronic care to her patients,  Whiteheart has an anti-coagulation clinic.  he also teaches residents in Procedure Clinic, medical students in the Clinical Skills Foundation course, as well as PA and pharmacy students in clinic. Her clinical interests include dermatological procedures, joint/soft tissue injections, and enhancing communication with patients to improve their overall health and well-being.
