Sara Mazzarelli, MHS, PA-C, is a physician assistant at Duke Family Medicine North Duke Street. Prior to joining Duke Health in 2019, she practiced family medicine in underserved community health settings in Durham and rural North Carolina, and also has a background in emergency medicine. In addition to general family medicine practice, she has interests in LGBT health, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, hepatitis C, Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP), the social determinants of health, and health care delivery science. In addition to practicing clinically, Mazzarelli serves the department as an Epic super user. She also participated in the Primary Care Preceptor Development Mini-Fellowship through the Duke School of Medicine. Mazzarelli is a 2013 graduate of the Duke Physician Assistant Program and received her undergraduate degree in biology and anthropology from Mount Holyoke College.
