What are your career goals?
I aspire to practice full-spectrum family medicine, including inpatient, outpatient, OB, and procedural medicine. I also hope to be a leader, mentor, and researcher in family medicine.
What attracted you to the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program?
The Duke Family Medicine Residency Program perfectly merges academic medicine with community medicine. When narrowing down my rank list, I was searching for an institution that was committed to teaching evidence-based primary care, advancing the field of family medicine, and serving the community. I was also drawn to the friendliness, curiosity, enthusiasm, talent, and diversity of this program's residents, faculty, and leadership.
In your opinion, what makes Duke Family Medicine special?
Throughout my interview process, everyone mentioned that the people make a program special. I only fully appreciated these comments once I met the people at Duke Family Medicine. Despite having the prestigious Duke name, this program has some of the kindest, most genuine, welcoming, and enthusiastic people I have ever met. Being able to show up to work surrounded by people that are happy, kind, and eager to teach makes this experience very special and encourages me to be the best version of myself.
What strengths or skills do you have that could be a benefit to the community?
My biggest strength is my compassion for others. I aim to use this compassion to advocate intensely for my patients in my practice and the community.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about academic medicine, evidence-based healthcare, mentorship, full-spectrum family medicine, outpatient procedures, and preventative medicine.
What is your hometown?
Miami, Florida
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and my significant other, an Emergency Medicine resident at Duke. I also enjoy playing pickleball, exercising, hiking, playing video games, watching TV, exploring restaurants, attending concerts, and so much more!
If you have lived in the area for awhile, what is the best part of living in Durham/the Triangle?
I moved to the Durham/Triangle area a month before starting residency. During this time, I took full advantage of exploring the area and many of its activities. The best part of living here is the ease of transportation, parking, and affordability. The food is spectacular, the people are kind and diverse, the weather and greenery are beautiful, and there is something for everyone to do (both indoors and outdoors).
What is something interesting that not many people know about you?
I owned a clothing company in high school, which was worn by two professional athletes and sold in two boutique stores and online.
So far, what has surprised you most about Duke?
As mentioned earlier, despite the prestigious Duke name, everyone in this program is welcoming, kind, enthusiastic, and has our best interests in mind. The leadership is welcoming and approachable. They listen and respond to feedback. I could not be happier with my decision to come here.
