Duke's Physician Assistant Program Named No.1 Program in the Nation

The Physician Assistant Program in Duke’s Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is the top graduate medical training program of its kind in the country, according to rankings released Tuesday by US News & World Report. The PA program has earned the No. 1 ranking numerous times over the past 25 years.

The PA program was created in 1965 and is the oldest in the nation. It is currently led by Jacqueline Barnett, DHSc, MSHS, PA-C. Ninety students will be accepted into the class of 2023.

The School of Medicine withdrew from the US News & World Report’s annual medical school rankings earlier this year, saying the metrics used to determine the rankings were based on limited data and did not reflect the values or quality of the school’s educational program.
