Candace Prusiewicz, PhD, DABT, joined the Duke Toxicology Program in January 2017. Prusiewicz’s professional focus has been directed toward researching and synthesizing toxicological data in support of human health risk assessments, hazard communication, worker safety, and regulatory exposure standards. She has worked as an occupational toxicologist proposing safe company-wide occupational exposure levels for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. She has experience in the consulting field developing well-researched and concise toxicological summaries and dossiers in accordance with U.S. EPA and EU REACH guidelines. She has also worked with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality developing regulatory standards for ambient air and groundwater pollutants.

Prusiewicz earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Houston, and a doctorate in environmental health sciences from the UNC-Chapel Hill. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.
