What are your career goals?

I’m interested in working in an outpatient clinic setting with a mixture of procedures, acute care, and chronic care for a diverse patient population.

What attracted you to the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program?

Besides my long love for Duke, I was drawn to the people, flexibility in the curriculum, focus on population health, and support from leadership. There are clear role models that will push me to achieve greater things in whatever direction I choose.

In your opinion, what makes Duke Family Medicine special?

Duke Family Medicine has diversity in all its forms. There are so many people with varied interests and personalities, unified by their passion for family medicine. I’m looking forward to working with and learning from everyone.

What strengths or skills do you have that could be of benefit to the community?

I have had experience working with patients with limited resources in Oxford, N.C. I love learning new languages and know a bit of Spanish and Chinese. The engineering side of my brain enjoys problem solving and optimizing systems, which I hope to apply to improve population health.

What are you passionate about?

Mental and behavioral health, narrative medicine

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Technology, movies, TV, video games, cooking, reading, podcasts.

If you have lived in the area for awhile, what is the best part of living in the Durham/Triangle area?

Good food and affordable cost of living.

What is something interesting that not many people know about you?

I briefly dabbled in pyrography (decorative wood burning).

So far, what has surprised you most about Duke?

Duke is a constant place of change (and construction projects). There are always new things happening and interesting people to meet.
