Lovest T. Alexander Jr., is Director of Diversity and Inclusion/Recruitment in the Duke University Physician Assistant Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. Alexander, graduated from N.C Central University undergraduate as a pre-medical degree and the Duke University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program. Alexander finished a post graduate degree from the Duke University School of Medicine PA program.
Alexander, is a recognized leader in the recruitment of underrepresented minority health career students into the physician assistant profession. For over three decades, he has traveled throughout North Carolina and the country, visiting colleges and universities, to inform health counselors and students about the physician assistant profession and how best to prepare students for acceptance into PA programs. Through his commitment to recruiting at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), he received the Duke University and Health System Blue Ribbon Award for Diversity in 2016.
