Hunter Spotts, M.D., Named Medical Director of Student Health

Effective Dec. 5, 2019, Hunter Spotts, M.D., assumed the role of medical director of student health. He has been a provider at Duke Student Health since 2015 and served as Interim Medical Director beginning July 1, 2019. He succeeds Brian Halstater, M.D., who left the Student Health medical director role in 2019.

Spotts graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1995 and completed family medicine residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1998. Recently, he has been spearheading the Student Wellness center’s accreditation with the AAAHC.

"In addition to his extensive clinical and leadership experience, Dr. Spotts brings a passion for medical education and patient-centered collaboration that will be a great benefit to the department," says John Vaughn, M.D., division chief of student health.
