Kenny Railey, M.D., Named Medical Director of PA Program

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, Kenyon Railey, M.D., assumed the role of medical director of the Duke Physician Assistant Program, succeeding Maggie Gradison, M.D., MHS-CL, who held the position since 2007.

Railey graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2005, and completed family medicine residency at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008. Railey is a family medicine provider at Duke Family Medicine Center, and serves as the department’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion and as the Assistant Chief Diversity Officer for the School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity & Inclusion.

Railey is well-known to the PA program, previously serving on faculty from 2012 to 2017, and serving alongside Gradison as assistant medical director since Aug. 1, 2019.

“We are excited to have Dr. Railey join the program’s leadership as our new medical director," says Jacqueline Barnett, DHSc, MSHS, PA-C. He is well-known to the program and has a heart for students, PA education, and the PA Profession. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as an educator, clinician, and leader and will be a true asset to the program.“

Gradison will continue to work part-time in Employee Occupational Health and Wellness as she plans for retirement.
