Why did you choose to join the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health?

I was attracted to the department's efforts to be the leading edge in all things primary care and family medicine. I am also looking forward to having colleagues with a diversity of experiences and approaches to clinical care and education. Duke seems like an ideal fit for a young faculty member like myself to learn, grown, and contribute.

Where were you working previous to Duke? What was your role there?

I spent the last year completing a health policy fellowship through the Georgetown School of Medicine and the Robert Graham Center in Washington, D.C. This role was a wonderful conglomeration of health services research projects, advocacy, learning, teaching, and clinical care.

What is your approach to mentorship/teaching?

Being present and available, goal-oriented, and honest.

What is your clinical focus and what types of patients will you be taking care of at Duke?

I enjoy the breadth of family medicine and cherish the opportunity to take care of folks from all walks of life. I hope to partner with my patients to meet their health needs with compassion, dignity, and respect.

What are your research interests?

Similar to others in family medicine, my interests are quite varied. Currently, I am quite curious about the future of telehealth in primary care, challenges to rural health access/workforce, and how to bolster the primary care workforce pipeline.

Is there any other information you would like to share?

I'm in search of the tastiest lemon bars in the Triangle and welcome suggestions!
