Brian Halstater, MD

Brian Halstater is the Medical Director of the Duke Family Medicine Center in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.  He completed medical school at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and then went to the Family Medicine Residency program at University of California, Los Angeles Family Medicine Residency where he was also Chief Resident.  He stayed at UCLA in several roles and helped merge the UCLA and Santa Monica Family Medicine Residency Programs before joining Duke as the Family Medicine Residency Director where he worked with an outstanding team to reinvent and rejuvenate the program.  He then joined Duke Student Health as Medical Director where he helped develop new clinical service lines before returning to the Family Medicine Center as Medical Director.  In addition to working with the leadership team to take care of their patient and team members, he is active in resident and student education, mentoring colleagues and developing and implementing new clinical service lines.
