Fernando Suarez, MD, DABT

Fernando Suarez, MD, DABT, joined the Duke Toxicology Program in January 2017. Suarez is originally from Colombia, South America, and has over 17 years of combined experience in general and regulatory toxicology.

After completing an MD degree from Universidad De Caldas in Colombia, he moved to the United States where he obtained a master of science in pharmacology and toxicology and a master of arts in foreign languages, both from West Virginia University. Suarez completed his post-doctoral training with the National Toxicology Program and started his career in the consumer product safety field with Procter & Gamble where he was responsible for conducting safety evaluations for over-the-counter products risk assessment evaluations of crop protection chemicals. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.
