Where were you practicing/working previous to Duke? What was your role there?

Upon graduating from residency in Chicago, I practiced at an urban Federally Qualified Health Center in Los Angeles from 2014 to 2017 as a family physician. I then pivoted to a small rural health clinic in Western Wisconsin to practice full spectrum family medicine prior to moving on to Duke.

What is your clinical focus/what types of patients will you be taking care of at Duke? At what clinic/locations will you be working?

I will be practicing full spectrum family medicine, providing primary care to newborns to children to adults. I will be primarily at the Duke Family Medicine Center and will be on obstetrics call partly at Duke Regional Hospital.

What is your approach to clinical care?

In practicing medicine for almost a decade as a family physician, I have learned the science of medicine is constantly advancing and changing and that it is vitally important for doctors to be up to date with the latest evidence to provide the best care possible for their patients.

Why did you choose to join Duke Family Medicine & Community Health?

I was impressed with the faculty and residents and felt I could contribute to the overall mission of the department based on my experience and background. I was especially moved by Dr. Tiffany Covas’ passion for expanding the department’s obstetrical footprint (in particular continuity deliveries for patients) and am looking forward to contributing to this effort.

Any other educational or research background information you want to share?

I have had training in medical acupuncture and am interested in holistic approaches to health care. I have the X-waiver to provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for those with opioid use disorder.

Is there any other information you would like to share?

I have two young children with my partner and am looking forward to exploring the Triangle area!
