Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program Accepting Applications
The Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program is accepting applications for the 2019-20 program year through Dec. 7. This one-year leadership development program trains advanced practice nurses to be better equipped to meet the challenges of the evolving health care environment. Meet Natalie Tammen, MHS, PA-C
Natalie Tammen, MHS, PA-C, joined the department as a physician assistant in June and will be splitting her time between Duke Family Medicine Center and Walltown Neighborhood Clinic. Tammen is a 2017 alumna of the Duke Physician Assistant Program.
Spring 2018 Community Health Updates
Some achievements and recognition for our faculty and staff this spring:
Kaity Granda, PA-C, and Arlene Ratcliff, CMA, who both work at Walltown Neighborhood Clinic, were recently recognized for increasing their colorectoral cancer screening rates the most from calendar year 2017 to first quarter 2018.
Sarah Weaver, MPH, presented a Duke Distance Education workshop April 17 on the hybrid/blended program model, as is used by the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program.
Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program Expands, Announces Fellows for 2018-19 Program Year
The Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program announces the selection of 45 advanced practice nurses (APNs) as fellows for the 2018-2019 program year. The one-year program provides unique leadership development opportunities for APNs through a combination of on-campus and distance-based platforms. With the continued and generous support of Johnson & Johnson, this successful program has expanded this year to welcome a class that is 50 percent larger than in years past, with the selected nurse fellows hailing from 21 states and representing many diverse practice settings. On April 24, they will attend a four-day leadership retreat on the Duke University campus.
Susan Spratt wins 2018 MLK Community Caregiver Award
Susan Spratt, M.D., assistant professor (secondary) of community and family medicine in the Division of Community Health is the winner of Duke University Hospital's 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Caregiver Award. Spratt was honored for carrying on Dr. King's legacy of service to the community through her volunteer work helping patients with diabetes through CAARE and the Durham Diabetes Coalition.
