The Duke Department of Family Medicine and Community Health offers a unique, customizable Career Development Fellowship designed to help you launch (or shift) your family medicine career. This fellowship is co-designed with you, the fellow, to build the skills and experiences you need to achieve your career goals. Applicants must be board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine.
Duration: 1 year (extension available)
Overview: The Duke Family Medicine and Community Health Career Development Fellowship offers a unique, customizable experience designed to help you launch (or shift) your family medicine career. This fellowship is co-designed with you, the fellow, to build the skills and experiences you need to achieve your career goals.
Structure:
- Clinical Work: 5 half days per week
- Fellows are credentialed as attendings and work independently.
- Career Development: 5 half days per week
- Dedicated to your personalized career development goals.
Focus Areas: Past fellows have concentrated on various areas, including:
- Reproductive Health
- Maternity Care
- Community Health
- Breastfeeding Medicine
- Health Equity
Co-Design Process: The co-design process typically begins in the fall to plan for a fellowship starting the following summer. Fellows identify a primary mentor who helps them develop their content area, curriculum and experiences. Fellows are receive a clinical faculty appointment and are paid on the Duke GME stipend rates.
